KARACHI: The Safe City Project’s work has begun in the city and poles have been installed at six places as top officials visited area to monitor the work in progress, ARY News reported on Thursday.

Director General Safe City Asif Aijaz Shaikh and P.D. Brig. Gul Hassan arrived at Aram Bagh area to inspect the work.

Poles for safe city project have been fixed at the NED University, Aram Bagh and Haqqani Chowk. Moreover, two poles of the project have been installed at Pakistan Chowk and one adjoining to the D.J. Science College.

The city project’s poles have pink button and other options.

D.G. Safe City Asif Aijaz Shaikh has said that the cameras will be fixed over the poles within 20 days. “These cameras will send feed back to the command-and-control room of the Sindh Police, where it all will be recorded”, he said.

“Under the project 1300 cameras will be installed at 300 poles,” project director Brig. Gul Hassan said. “There will be a push button to seek for help”, he said.

The police force will promptly act over the complaint, brigadier added.

Some 15 Pakistani representatives from the fashion and apparel sourcing industries showcasing their designs at Texworld/Apparel Sourcing Paris.

Texworld Evolution Paris kicked off at the Paris Porte de Versailles on July 2 and welcoming huge number professional buyers from the fashion industry which are coming to meet the international textile and finished products manufactures.

The comprehensive textile and apparel lineup is being showcased over three days in Paris, including Texworld, Apparel Sourcing, Avantex for innovative fashion solutions, and Leatherworld covering the entire leather industry, and hosting nearly 1,200 exhibitors from 26 countries.

Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion at Texworld Evolution in Paris, France, showcasing attractive textile products from 12 Pakistani exhibitors enthusiastic to work with international customers.

The Texworld Evolution Paris will continue till July 03, 2024, said a press release issued on Monday.

Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and Embassy’s Trade & Investment Section aim to project country’s prowess in textile world & open new vistas of growth and development by facilitating B2B contacts with potential clientèle.

Former India batter Virender Sehwag has revealed the name of a potential candidate to replace Rohit Sharma as a captain after the Blues lifted the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy by beating South Africa in the final at the Kensington Oval, Barbados.

Talking to Cricbuzz, Virender Sehwag said Shubman Gill, who was part of India’s T20 World Cup squad as a travelling reserve, could be the best choice for the India’s captaincy in the long run.

“Shubman Gill is for the long haul. He’s a player who plays all three formats. He’s had a great last year. He was unlucky to miss out on the 2024 T20 World Cup. According to me, it is the right decision to make him the captain. When Rohit Sharma leaves tomorrow, Shubman Gill will be his right replacement for captaincy,” Virender Sehwag told Cricbuzz.

Hardik Pandya, who acted as vice-captain in the T20 World Cup 2024, is also said to be a prime candidate to replace Rohit Sharma.

The final decision will be made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) soon.

Rohit Sharma announced his retirement decision during a press conference following the victory in the final match.

Rohit Sharma said, “This was my last [T20I] game as well. No better time to say goodbye to this format. I’ve loved every moment of this. I started my India career playing this format. This is what I wanted, I wanted to win the cup.”

ISLAMABAD: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has expressed satisfaction with the recent measures taken by the Pakistan government, paving the way for a new loan program, ARY News reported on Monday, citing finance ministry sources.

As per details, Pakistan hopes to secure a new IMF loan program in July as the budget 2024-25 prepared under IMF conditions has also been approved, fulfilling one of the major requirements set by the international lender.

Sources indicate that the government is continuing to meet other conditions set by the IMF. Work is underway to increase the basic electricity tariff in light of NEPRA’s decision, with the new rates expected to be implemented in July.

Timely implementation of monthly and quarterly electricity adjustments is also being carried out.

Finance ministry officials anticipate that an agreement for the new loan program will be finalized in July. The new program is expected to range between $6 billion and $8 billion, although the exact amount has yet to be finalized.

The new loan program with the IMF is projected to span three years.

The National Assembly (NA) on July 28 approved the Federal Budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 with a total outlay of Rs18,870 billion.

In the intimate ceremony pictures, shared by Ashraf on social media, she made for a stunning bride in a white chikankari saree, by local designer Sanam Agha, along with minimal makeup by ace artist Nabila.

Hours later, she finally shared the very first glimpse of her now-husband Shahab, with her excited fans.
