KARACHI: Anti-encroachment force has retrieved 113 acres of government land during an ongoing crackdown against illegal construction in Karachi, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
The Director of the Anti-encroachment – Raja Tariq Chandio – claimed that during an operation against violation, a total of 133 acres of government land has been reclaimed.
“A total of 133 acres of government land, valued at billions, has been reclaimed, which include 35 acres of land in Memon Goth, Malir, 6 acres in Khar Khado, 56 acres in Northern, and 16 acres of land in Shah Murid was retrieved by the anti-encroachment force,” Raja Tariq claimed.
Raja Tariq confirmed that the land mafia currently occupying the government-owned land, however, the heavy troops of the anti-encroachment force were deployed to reclaim the land.
“Similar operations against encroachments will be conducted in other districts as well,” he said.

Earlier this year, an unidentified persons opened fire and killed a machine operator during an anti-encroachment operation in Karachi’s Surjani Town.
According to the details, during the anti-encroachment operation in Surjani Town Sector 8, the machine operator was killed by unknown person’s firing after which additional police force was called to control the situation.
Police officials stated that the alleged land grabbers opened fire and started pelting stones on the KDA Anti-encroachment team before the operation even started, resulting in killing one machine operator.
During an anti-encroachment operation, the armed suspects and anti-encroachment police exchanged fire. The police attempted to push back the agitated individuals. Meanwhile, the anti-encroachment team successfully demolished several encroachments established on different plots.
