Pakistan, electricity shortfall, surpasses 5,500 MW

Prolong power outage continues across the country as the electricity shortfall exceeded 5,500 megawatts, currently, the total electricity production is 21,500 megawatts, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

According to the details, the country has experienced a power shortfall exceeding 5,500 megawatts, resulting in load shedding of six to eight hours. Power generation stands at 21,500 megawatts, while the demand is 27,000 megawatts nationwide.

The power division sources stated that due to the power shortfall, load shedding is being implemented for six to eight hours, with longer durations in high-loss and electricity theft-prone areas.

Hydel power generation stands at 6,373 megawatts, government-owned thermal power plants are producing 772 megawatts of electricity, while the independent power producers (IPPs) generate around 10,136 megawatts, and wind power plants contribute 576 megawatts.

The sources maintained that the solar powerhouses produce 115 megawatts, biomass 136 megawatts and nuclear power plants generate 3,535 megawatts.
